Application
The first step is to complete the online application on the My Asian Donor website. Our egg donation team will review the information you provide. The team will proceed to the Prescreening stage OR we will contact you by phone or email if we require additional information and/or paperwork, based on what you provide on your application. If you are an experienced egg donor, we'll ask you to provide information to request your medical records from your previous egg donation cycle(s). This process typically takes 1-3 weeks, excluding medical record processing times (if necessary).
Prescreening Call
Once your online application is approved, a member of our intake team will schedule a prescreening phone call with you to discuss your application information including your health history, your family’s health history, hobbies and activities, education, and background, in more detail. The intake coordinator will also be able to provide more information on the compensation you will receive as an egg donor based on your background and/or experience. They will also answer any questions you may have about the egg donation process. Once this process is complete, your profile will be made available to view on our egg donor database for intended parents to search and match! This timeline is determined by your availability for the Prescreening phone call.
Matching with Intended Parents
Your profile will be available on the database for Intended Parents to view. We are unable to predict when you will be matched, if ever, because donor selection is subjective and every intended parent is looking for unique traits. While waiting to be matched, we highly recommend regularly updating your profile and adding more pictures.
If we have intended parents who are interested in matching with you, we will present their information to you including: IVF clinic location and any questions they may have for you regarding your upcoming availability and blackout dates for a cycle. You are also welcome to ask any questions you may have for the intended parents and the team at My Asian Donor will get those answers for you. If you and the intended parents are both happy with the match, we will confirm with you and the match will become official!
Medical Review & Screening
Next, we will send your medical records and match information to the intended parents’ IVF clinic. The IVF clinic will request a date for your in-person medical screening and our agency team will work with you to make all travel arrangements for you to go to the clinic for your screening. Depending on your location, there may be an opportunity to complete some of the screening steps at a facility local to your home but you will need to attend the IVF clinic’s in-person medical screening for at least one day. The timeline for the medical review and screening is approximately 2-4 weeks.
Legal Contract
After you have been fully screened and cleared to proceed, My Asian Donor will connect you with your own fertility attorney to represent you during the legal phase of your egg donation cycle. You and your attorney will receive an egg donation contract from your intended parents' attorney that defines the compensation you will receive during the cycle as well as your legal protection during the match. We encourage you to schedule your appointments quickly and efficiently with your attorney to review the contract draft so that you can either submit revisions or sign and return the contract as soon as possible. Your egg donation cycle cannot proceed until your legal contract is signed. This step typically takes 1-2 weeks and is reliant on your availability to schedule time with your attorney.
Medication and Monitoring
Once your legal contract is signed by all parties, the IVF clinic will send you your fertility medications to begin taking. You will take medication for approximately 2-3 weeks while you attend regular local monitoring appointments near your home.
Egg Retrieval
Once your eggs are ready, you will travel to the location of the IVF clinic for the retrieval. Our agency will coordinate all travel and hotel accommodations for you. You will continue medications and report to the IVF clinic every couple of days for monitoring. Once the clinic is satisfied with your body’s response to the medications, they will administer a Lupron “trigger shot” that will cause your eggs to mature in preparation for retrieval. Approximately 36 hours after this trigger shot, you will report back to the clinic and undergo a minor surgical procedure to retrieve the eggs. This procedure is performed under sedation and typically takes about 30 minutes to complete. The timeline for this phase is approximately 2 weeks.
Recovery
After the procedure, you will need to rest for a few hours before you are discharged from the clinic. You may experience some cramping or discomfort for a few days after the procedure, but this should subside quickly. You will be able to return to your normal activities within a day or two.
Overall, the egg donation process with My Asian Donor typically takes about six to eight weeks to complete. However, the timeline may vary depending on individual circumstances, such as how quickly you respond to the fertility medications. Our team of experts will be with you every step of the way to ensure a smooth and successful donation experience.
